  1. That is certainly one way of looking at it, but not necessarily the only way.
  2. It sounds like rolling the dice…..get off and hope you receive credit for the unused portion of your cruise, while you are spending money on land travel plus flights you had not budgeted for (unless you can land travel to the final destination of your cruise for flight home….which may or may not be possible. Sounds like it worked for you, but it also sounds like a fairly significant gamble. JMHO
  3. Getting it changed prior to would be very wise. We were told the same thing when the names were not quite correct - that all travel Information needs to be correct prior to arriving.
  4. Hiltner may have called it correctly…….
  5. Really??? This seems completely absurd to me! They are just supposed to disembark in some port because the problem could not be resolved? And then what? Spend a ton of money on a hotel, flights, etc? Who wins in that suggestion? Not the passenger. I think that is a horrible solution.
  6. My hesitation with Windstar is lack of balconies. I realize that they have French balconies, but that’s not quite the same as having your own personal outdoor space. They do have some great itineraries, and people really do enjoy the line. So if a balcony is not important, I would say it could be a good fit.
  7. I would have to think that is a true statement AK1004!
  8. Not quite a single example, but whatever rings true for you is your choice, without judgement from me. I stand by that I have read a lot of examples on these threads that suggest it is not a plural of anecdote of data.
  9. We Last sailed in October 2019 on V, but it was not on Orion. Again, sorry you had that experience. And yes, their MDR is not impressive to us either.
  10. It is hard to argue that there are not some sound issues in cabins on Vista. It’s pretty apparent that it is not ship wide, but enough to be concerning. If the crew is getting a lot of complaints, it’s not just complaining CC members.
  11. Interesting Mareblu. I do not doubt that occurred with the food, but I will say on the voyages we had (our last one was late 2019), we did not have an overly salted cuisine. It was never brought up by others nor between us. That isn’t to say that your chef on board did not do this. I also haven’t read of this problem in an amount that I remember on V threads. Too bad that happened. I thoroughly agree with your assessment of their MDR. If that occurred with our cruise, I would likely feel as you do.
  12. Thank you again. I still receive at lot of VO promotion emails. I have done side quite a few side by side. Adding in all costs to arrive at a total cost pp/pd. It was pretty eye opening. Again, I will admit that of having an included excursion in every port is utilized and important, that is not calculated in my totals, as we do not value ship excursions. That said, analyzing total costs between the three lines was rather eye opening for me. We always upgrade during package so not everyone does that, and we always book balconies, whereas some people are good with OV. So my total may be different from other totals based on preferences. I looked earlier after reading your previous post at the British isles between the three. Based on our preferences SB won on Pp/pd, but that does not include what private excursion costs vs our DIY days that we may incur. I did another in the Mediterranean. Viking was most expensive, and SB was a little over $50 pp/pd over O before the $300 excursion credit. So it is indeed interesting. It honestly often can come down to the best itinerary. I do thank you for all of your VO tips. I would happily sail on them again if it aligned up.
  13. Thank you FetaCheese. I looked at our travel time of Apr/May 2025 and really didn’t see anything other than they have been offering for years. I will take a second look. After sailing on SB I am not really sure that they are worth paying more for though. We don’t take ship excursions, so that is not the draw for us that it is for many in paying extra.
  14. Same true with Viking. They offer a past cruise discount of $100/pp. sometimes they have a ‘promotion’ of ‘double discount’. No other program. Yet they continue to have their loyal fans agreeing to pay the steeply increased fares and they keep filling their ships. We were ‘loyal’ for a few years after stepping up from mainstream and HAL. Sailed on Vikong’s inaugural first ocean ship, etc. But post Covid their constant repeated Mediterranean itineraries for years, and prices now above the ‘luxury’ lines due to their ‘included excursions’ prompted us to explore. I am glad we are exploring.
  15. Thank you. Unfortunately I did find that out
  16. Looks amazing to me! Both indoor and out are quite impressive.
  17. We are exactly the same. No TV on vacation. But a lot of people do. And yes, you bring up really valid points
  18. It would be an exercise, but capturing from this thread the cabins both with and without noise problems, then ‘mapping’ them on the deck plans….I wonder if it would show a pattern, or if it’s too small a sample size.
  19. I see what you are talking about. Thank you very much for this extra effort. I appreciate it! I still do wonder about having a cabin butting up next to crew quarters. I’ve never experienced that.
  20. When we booked flights on British Air in BC, we had to pay extra (I don’t remember how much but it was acceptable) to choose seats ahead of time. Does AA give you that option?
  21. Is the Colonnade the only venue for French press? I didn’t know this either so I add my thank you!
  22. Based on deck plans, there would be a cabin on each side of the door. And available cabin is right up against it. It initially attracted me because it may have meant no one next to it.
