  1. I look forward to the responses you receive. Thank you for posting this question
  2. I have looked at Regent (& SS). Since we don’t really engage with ship excursions, the cost of those in the price structure impacts the price pp/pdwas and seemed significant for us. For those who do use ship excursions I can see where it would be attractive. Maybe I need to look more often. I have heard good things about them, so hope you enjoy. SB price increases in past few weeks when they ‘extended’ the New Years sale were bad enough. This latest round is extreme. I can only hope that it is an epic fail. As Sunprince said, it’s clearly a price increase, and nothing resembling a sale.
  3. Wow. I just looked at the newest sale. Of the four itineraries we are looking at, and that I have pricing on from early February, I found the following increases per person for entry level Verandah vs current entry level. Granted, there is a two category upgrade for the same price, however we had planned on a V2, which was approx $200/pp more than V1. Three are 14 day itineraries. They increased from lowest of $1,415/pp up to $1,925/pp The 10 day itinerary increased $1,275pp Pretty bummed we weren’t able to book (medical) during Jan/Feb. sure hoping that the pendulum swings a bit further back.
  4. I will have to disagree on this one. We were looking at a different cruise line that we haven’t sailed on for years because the itinerary was outstanding. Our TA mentioned that not only had it slipped in service and food, it really does attract mostly an older and very sedate crowd…..and we aren’t overly young. So I do believe that if a good travel agent knows you and your styles, they will bring up areas to you that could include age/activity/styles. Clearly the conflicting thing is that the poster who wrote the review wasn’t overly young either! Go figure.
  5. This all is, as Vallesan said, really sad. I think it absolutely makes us hesitant to book Vista. I wonder if anyone at corporate is getting this feedback. I hope that is the case, so that they might be able to avoid it occurring on Allure. Whether they will, or whether it is too late in the build, I guess remains to be seen.
  6. That is a new one for me. I will make note of it. Thank you!
  7. Thanks for your comparison Claranda. I think ot is really fair and balanced, with accurate points. I would only say this. We’ve sailed Viking several times, and only Seabourn one time. In your point #1 - we feel the same about Viking Mediterranean itineraries, as they are mostly the same as have been offered for years, but having only sailed SB one time, their Mediterranean itineraries are different for us! Different viewpoints for the same reason. We do not care for the MDR on Viking. Feels very cafeteria style in the center area, whereas the Seabourn MDR provided more space between the tables and the layout. That said, the openness on V with all the windows is a bonus. We agree with your points, and yes, V pricing post Covid is crazy….which is how we ended up with Seabourn. At the end of the trip we felt overall SB to be a superior product. We haven’t sailed Oceania but it is on the possibility list for the right itinerary. There is a lot of unhappiness over on those boards around shortened port days and changed itineraries. That is concerning to us. Right now I hope it will be SB next Spring for us.
  8. I have read that she will be in dry dock the same amount of time as Riviera was. That leads one to ponder the reason given, but that doesn’t change what will not be occurring. Personally I think it is a miss on Oceania’s part, as it will be a distinct difference between the two ships. And yes, some will argue that it is not a big deal, but to a good number of people it will be a distinguishing factor. Marina is the only larger O ship in the Mediterranean next year….and while it doesn’t exclude her from our decision on who to sail with, it does factor in.
  9. Thank you Charleyben. I appreciate knowing this for future reference.
  10. I’ve not heard of Stugeron before, so good to know. Bonine here in the US is across the counter, no doctor script, and has always been my go to. Is Stugeron easily available in Europe?
  11. 100% with you on this one! Actually on your whole post though!
  12. I would be curious where these stats came from. I would think that there are a lot of variables to consider….where in the world you are traveling being a big one. I can see higher end travel being less pp/pd than some cruises….
  13. I do believe that pricing can fluctuate based on available cabins….I particularly see is with the airlines. I would only add that since after March 1, there are 4 itineraries I have been looking at and the price increases have remained the same on the Verandah suites during several searches. I also agree that when the pricing meets expectations, it is the time to book. Unfortunately, that isn’t always possible. For various reasons. One that can occur is medical, and until post surgery time is far enough out that one could travel, it invalidates travel insurance if you book until that point. But I do agree that under most circumstances it makes sense when the price is agreeable, book it.
  14. I think that when they ‘extended’ the sale, they also changed the sale prices, rather than change the name of the sale, and making it clear it was a different offering. If they had actually ended it when it was advertised to end, it may have been a smarter play because then different offerings would have been expected - good or bad. People don’t always book right away, but they often do keep track of what they are Interested in including the pricing.
  15. I have continued to look, and they continue to be higher. I sure hope a future ‘sale’ provides something better than this current one has at this point.
  16. Also ginger can be a good option to calm your stomach, alternating with something salty. I also always pack Bonine (meclizine) - it works really well for me…..along with keeping my eyes on the horizon! We have not encountered very rough seas in the area you are sailing, but never say never! We rarely take ship excursions. We love to just explore on our own! Rarely do we use a ship excursion, unless what we want to really see is a distance away. In that case we hire a private guide, grab a taxi in port, or go onto our roll call and either organize a small group or join one that someone is organizing for a small group tour. Yes, the ship will not wait for you, but reputable tour guides companies are aware of that, and are not going to risk their reputation. For some people, that is out of their comfort zone and ship excursions work better. we used the Seabourn app every morning to order coffee from Seabourn Square. It was ready and waiting for us to bring back to our cabin. They have both the opportunity to sit down over a desk to go over questions or receive assistance, as well as counter assistance. We received a tote bag for towels, etc. After sailing on a number of cruise lines, Seabourn is our favorite. We took our first cruise with them last year and had a fantastic experience. I think that you made a great choice.
  17. Would you Sail Vista again, or would you steer towards other O ships? Or would that be itinerary driven for the most part?
  18. Thank you for discussing this. I sincerely appreciate it.
  19. I would agree with you. Every itinerary I looked at was higher priced. I think we will hold for another “sale of the year” type of sale. I didn’t think this one was all that enticing to begin with, and now even less so. Hopefully I don’t regret this decision.
  20. I read about that train. Whenever we are able to go I will look forward to that. Had to cancel this year but one itinerary we are looking at for 2025 includes this port. Thank you very much.
  21. I thought it was me as well, and that is why I also took screenshots! Ha!
  22. Some of the fluctuations are fairly large. The pricing is up from last year on identical itineraries, but I did not realize how much it fluctuates within a ‘specific sale’ timeframe. Thank you for sharing that piece Corony
  23. I am not familiar with that last one. Thank you for sharing Woodrowst.
  24. We have a few itineraries we are considering for next year. I have a few screenshots of sailings during Spring 2025 from February. I just looked online at several. Prices have gone up for the same cabin categories. Was there a price increase on March 1st? Three examples 14 day Spains Southern Coast….4/9/25 sail date….V2 $8,074….now is $8,414 14 days Jewels of the British Isles…5/31/25 sail date…V2 $8,244….now is $8,924 10 day Tyrrhenian Treasures….5/7/25 sail date…V2 $5,694…..now $5,984 ‘Sail of the Year’ looks to be not what it was. I did not hear of a price increase, but possibly I missed it.
