  1. We are booked on the Gem sailing to Canada/New England in June 2018.

I went on NCL's web page to check out the excursions and it was grayed out and would not let me view any.

I called NCL and they said the excursions are not available until about 6 months before sailing. Is this true?

I sailed Carnival many times and was always able to view the excursions well in advance.

Anybody know if NCL is telling the truth or it's their web page or something ?

  2. I am having second thoughts on what we booked. Can anybody tell me about Holiday Inn Express North Bergen Lincoln tunnel ?

Also, which airport would be best to fly into? They don't have airport pickup or shuttle to port so I am wondering also what the cost would be for those ?

  3. In the US, the $14.22 per day is paid before you board.

I just signed up for it and paid the $14.22 per person per day tax. Which is still a bargain compared to $70 per person a day..The charge was added into the final cost of the cruise on my TA's billing statement and also on the reservation/confirmation from NCL

  4. Thank you so much for the info and for the pictures.

I am glad I chose this room. We haven't sailed on NCL for years, it's been Carnival lately.

I am looking forward to this cruise.

Since its been so long, can you tell me how the dining works and what the dress code is? We will do the main dining room

    Thanks again everybody!

  5. Thanks for the info !

I went and booked the Holiday Inn LaGuardia Airport at Citifield/Flushing. It says it's at 37-10 114th st in Queens.

Anybody have any knowledge of this hotel?

We will fly into LaGuardia and they will pick up at the airport and take us to the hotel. The hotel has breakfast and also an indoor pool. The price was good..

We will have to take a taxi to the port for around $30, does that seem right ?

Also since we are flying from Chicago, the airfare was $200 cheaper to LaGuardia then to Newark.

So, I am hoping I made a good choice.

  6. We are sailing June 2018 on the Gem. We will be flying in the day before.

Does anyone know of any hotels that would pick up at the airport? If so, which airport? LaGuardia or JFK?

A few years ago we sailed on another line and we flew into EWR and took the hotel shuttle to the port, but it seems only 1 hotel is doing that now and the price is almost $300 for 1 night. I don't want to spend that much if I don't have to. We have done all the tourist things in NYC several times, so we are looking for a hotel more to rest our heads, we are not interested in sight seeing. We would plan on taking a cab to the port.

    Thank you for any informaton.

  7. I have just booked this cabin for a sailing out of NewYork to Canada/New England in June 2018.

Can someone tell me the pros and cons of this cabin if you have stayed in it ?

I am hoping I made a good choice.

Thank you in advance for any information.

  8. I love my EFFY Jewelery. I have never had a problem, however I did not purchase on board a ship I purchased from a reputable jeweler near my hometown in case something should happen. No matter who the designer is I would never ever buy jewelry on board a ship or in the ports.

  9. My understanding with Effy was/is that the majority of their jewelry is one of a kind, maybe 2. They make very few as they are all designer pieces. I went on Effy's website to price something I saw at Macy's, it was the same price but they said there was only 1 available online and the other one was at Macy's...however I have seen some of their pieces, and they are gorgeous and pricey.

  10. We are sailing on the Dream in July.

One of the ports is Key West.

Can someone tell me if the ship docks in downtown Key West or does it dock in the ship yard ?

Also, what bars would you recommend ?

    Thanks for any information.

  11. We loved it! We were not in the quad. The view was awesome! Floor to ceiling windows it was like we could see what the captain sees, which was neat. I would book again in a heart beat. The only thing is at night you have to keep the blinds closed as the light bothers the bridge and they will let you know. Lots of room, it was great! I think we had almost as much room as the suite next door

  12. We got the same e-mail. Gonna stay with them and take the chance. I noticed that they are going to offer hot snacks during the cocktail hour, FREE shuttle service to the beach and or the mall, FREE passes on the Sun Trolley..seems like a good deal to me. Hubby and I want to go to Dillards because we don't have one here as he likes a particular dress shirt and they are the only store that has them and they are located in the mall that ES will shuttle us to. Looking forward to our Friday arrival at ES
