What to do??

We are trying to find something to do in San Juan for our next cruise that is either free or very cheap as we are doing excursions at all the other ports. We have been to the forts, walked around old town, etc. We had debated just staying on the ship or maybe getting off just to wonder a bit but wondering if there is a beach close by or something like that to do that we have not thought of.

Have you done the walk along the water that goes around the outside of the walls around the base of El Morro. This is a beautiful walk!

Following thread....us too in July.

The only time we have been we got there after dark and walked around a little bit but when we go this time it will probably look completely different because of the day light. Looking forward to hearing what all they have to offer.

**FYI we were originally heading to the Bahamas but hurricane Matthew changed our itinerary.

Yes, take an umbrella for shade and water. It’s all sun, but beautiful.

One more question....ok 2. Is fort admission required to do this walk, and what is easiest way there from port. Also, we only have until 2 pm so how long should we plan on to do this?

I’ve been reading up on San Juan for my upcoming cruise. There is a free trolley that goes around the area that you can take to forts and only like $5 admission.

There is no charge to walk along the water. If you port right in Old San Juan area I think if you just keep going left you will come to it. We've been there several times but am not sure if we walked from the ship.

If you walk along the outer wall from the OSJ port, you will need to be sure and go through the red gate if you want to get back into Old San Juan. Otherwise, if you continue along the path outside the wall, you will need to backtrack since that is a dead end.

Good to hear. It's been a while since we were there and we had to back track. We'll have to check it out next time we are in OSJ

If you walk from the ship up to San Cristobal fort, you can visit a Fort and then you can go along the ocean to the right for about a mile to the town beach (Escambron?). Walk is nice and beach while basic has a beautiful water and even some snorkeling
