Empress of the Seas-Viking Crown Lounge

Anyone recently on this ship? Is the Viking Crown Lounge still a bar at all? If not what is the room used for?

I was on the ship last month. The lower level is still a lounge / nightclub. A portion of it is also roped off to serve as a makeshift Diamond Lounge in the evenings (similar to what is done on Majesty of the Seas).

During the day, the lower level is also used as a venue that hosts some of the ship's talks and activities (often related to the spa and gym). People also use it as a place to read, play cards, or just sit and watch the sea.

The upper level was unfortunately turned into the ship's gym space in 2004.

Thank you for the quick answers. Guess its not a hang out bar anymore. Too bad it was my favorite bar on the ship when it was a new ship and sailing in the 90's.

There is still bar service - though I would need to check my Cruise Compasses to see what time it started serving. I believe late afternoon.

I didn't know that the Viking Crown functions as a Diamond Lounge on the Empress; that is good to hear. I'm guessing that the espresso/coffee/cappuccino machine that is on other DL's isn't there?
