oban and kirkwall

Hi, i've been to Oban and Kirkwall, although not on a cruise. Oban has a nice distillery to visit as well as being somewhere you could walk around yourself. Depending on how long you're there for, you can also get to some of the Islands from there.

For Kirkwall, there are standing stones which are amazing, but it depends on how long you have in port. Scapa flow is also there with its war time history. And of course, Highland Park is a great distillery for a visit.

I live in Aberdeen these days, so let me know if I can help with more info.

Hi David,

Hope you enjoy Oban. As you know Sunday (1st) may be a bit tougher than Monday 2nd - but I'd have a look at the seals first:

and then take a river cruise on Loch Etive:

Soraya,

I found your name listed in very old CC thread about Kirkwall and Aberdeen. We will be in Kirkwall from 8A-4P in July 2018 and in Aberdeen only until 1:20PM in July as well. They cut our Port time in Aberdeen by 3.5 hours after we booked our cruise, supposedly due to the tides??

Anyway, I am looking for suggestions for Aberdeen especially since we have only about 4 hours in Port. Can you share with me any recommendations on must see attractions for this limited time frame.

Any info on small group tour companies for Kirkwall would also be great. We prefer not to do the cruise ship tours when possible. Overpriced and undervalued usually.

Thank You so much!

I not sure where you dock in Aberdeen but you can maybe take a walk to the uni area. It has some beautiful buildings. There is a great sea front with a long beach. There is a very pretty areaof old fisherman’s houses. Locally it is called “Fittie” because it is at the fit or foot of the town. Well worth a wander round.
