Car Rentals at the cruise port in Fort Lauderdale?

We are thinking about renting a car for our post cruise stay in Fort Lauderdale. Is there any car rentals located at the Port? Also, what is usually the best car rental company to use in Florida?

There are dozens of threads here on renting at Port Everglades. No, there are not any rental sites "at the port". But just about every brand is just off the port, and has shuttles to/from the Terminals.

These are agencies near the port with free shuttles:

Hertz from Crown Plaza Hotel

Avis/Budget/Payless at 2520 Miami Rd.

Sixt further up 17th.

Thrifty/Dollar just out Western port exit

 

It is best to prebook your car to ensure they have your size/type available on rent day. The near-port locations are much smaller than the airport.

Then you have to decide if you want to use the free shuttles (not all companies have port shuttles) or make your own way to the rental office with Uber/etc. It you are in a big hurry then this may be faster if there are many ships in port.

Most folks rent from the near-port locations with free shuttles while some may go back to the airport using Uber and rent from there.

You have to compare rental costs from the near-port locations versus the airport location. Sometimes there is a difference in cost especially if you plan to drop back at the airport.
