Royal announces new smoking policy

Hi,

I just received an email from Royal advising of their new smoking policy.

Basically, no smoking on stateroom balconies from 1st Jan 2014 departures is the main change.:)

We just got off Radiance a few days back & had heard rumours this was coming.

Yes, it must be part of a mass mail-out as I received it too today!

The subject has been responsible for a long thread on the Royal Caribbean forums so time ago now.

Suits me, especially as I have 3 balcony bookings for 2014.:)

It is a backward step though allowing smoking in the casino on cruises sailing out of Australia :(

Smoking has NOT been allowed in the casinos, when the ships come to Australia, as they must comply with Australian laws. So I don't see that changing.;)

Don't worry, there will still be no smoking in the casino on Australian departures, the policy is the American version & in the last paragraph it mentions it can be adapted to local country regulations & that is what RCCL will continue to do in Australia.

Basically for us Australians it just means no balcony smokers in addition to the already stricter smoking rules RCCL applies to it's ships whilst based in Australia.:)

Now I don't know if this FB page is moderated by RCL OZ or USA but this is the latest response.

The way I read paragraph 2 there will be no smoking near the pool either even if it is the starboard side.:D

Good news, except for smoking in the Casinos.

I think they can smoke in the Casinos out of Asia. Especially in the 'High Roller' areas they have created on both Voyager and Mariner.
