CruiserDoc Posted December 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2015 We will be on a Viking Rhine river cruise from Basel to Amsterdam, departing Dec 15th. My wife is an avid bridge player and asked me today if there will be bridge onboard. I don't have an answer for her, although I'm sure it depends on our fellow passengers. Does anyone know if Viking promotes bridge playing by offering to help organize times, similar to what happens on ocean cruises? Better yet, are there any readers cruising on the Viking Kara, Dec 15th that would be interested in playing bridge?
rothbury Posted December 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 11, 2015 I have to say up front....I am not a bridge player. But, I did take a Christmas market cruise with Viking this time last year. Unless you and/or your wife don't plan to take the excursions and visit the Christmas markets.......I don't see when you will have time to play bridge. For sure I can tell you that Viking doesn't plan or organize anything like that. You could probably ask the CD to make an announcement and see if there is any interest. Enjoy your Christmas market cruise. I still have fond memories of mine.
Mark_T Posted December 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2015 On ocean cruises the organized bridge sessions tend to be at times when the ship is not in port during all or part of a day. On river cruises the ship is almost always in port during the day so there are few if any opportunities for that sort of organized activity. Nothing to stop you looking for like minded players to fit in something after diner perhaps, but I don't think you'll find Viking offering organized sessions.
