Questions about the Everglades Airboat Tour

My husband & I are cruising on the Grandeur of the Seas in December travelling to the Bahamas. He's interested in doing an airboat tour of the Everglades. Problem is he has mobility issues. He had a stroke which left him paralyzed on his left side. He's able to walk using a leg brace but can't walk very far.

So I have just a few questions: anyone who has done this type of tour: is it better to take it out of Port Canaveral or Miami? How much walking is actually involved in getting from the drop off point to the airboat? I know the boats have times when they go pretty fast, would he have any trouble holding on?

Thank you!

I've taken the airboat tour out of Ft. Lauderdale to Everglades Holiday Park. The boat dock was very close to the parking lot, so not a ton of walking was involved (maybe 100 yards), but each location could be different. I wouldn't expect any of them to require unreasonable distances, but without knowing your husband's tolerance, it's hard to say what would be doable for him.

There should be no issue with holding on during the actual airboat ride as the speeds reached were not that fast overall.

Does the cruise line's excursion give detailed descriptions of the excursion? For example on Princess the detailed description reads

Details:

Travel time:00:45 Transport type:Air Conditioned Transportation

Transport Capacity (Normal Use):46

Time at site:01:00 Inside Visit :No

Walking distance (yards):100

Total number of steps:1

Wheelchair accessible?:No

Restrooms available?:Yes

Free Time at Site (minutes):30 Shopping available?:Yes

I think I would also call the cruise line to determine who is the vendor and then check their website or give them a call. I concur with Mike, the boats don't go that fast.
