Hi all!

I have been on the Gem but not for a couple of years. and I just finished searching for any recent photos of the interior cabins after whatever refurb they had recently. Does anyone have a recent photo? I would like to book 2 cruises for 2018 so willing to do an interior on one of them to make it work. As far as itinerary, I am very flexible, I am just so sorry for the people who have been devastated by these hurricanes. NYC is so convenient for us so right now Gem and Breakaway are my options until the bring Escape up next fall (?)

Just got off the Pearl a month ago and the decor after refurbishment was light years better than previous Norwegian cruises. I'd been. I had on 5 other NCL ships before and it seemed as though the designer's guide was a box of crayons and a Dr. Suess coloring book. Lots of garish bright primary colors and loud geometric patterns. Like a cheap Vegas casino.

Mmmm

The freshly updated Pearl was crisp and more modern. Colors were muted and carpet patterns present but not obnoxious. Overall, noticeably more mature and sophisticated. If the Gem got the same treatment you should be impressed.

We sailed earlier this Spring on Gem's oceanview, they are nearly identical but slightly bigger. Changes/upgrades with recent drydock - bedside lamps are now bright LED's with USB charging port - a nice addition to keep one's device nearby & plugged in. The night stand/bed side table has 2 open shelves (similar to the *Away) ... medium or small or slim packing cubes easily slip in & out, without spilling contents.

The chair for the dresser/table has been replaced with a round sitting stool, flip the top cushion open & you get storage beneath. Old analog TV has been replaced (previously) to new LED interactive TV, not 1080p but probably max'd out at 720p resolution - with "accessible" HDMI port on the side.

As noted, new carpet & the color scheme combo is more subtle & not as loud. No changes to the bathroom details that I can see or recalled - ditto for the full closet/3 deep drawers.

Most importantly, the foam mattress were fine, firm enough for a good night sleep without waking up with neck/back pain.
