kaisatsu Posted October 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2017 Without knowing your interests, that's kind of impossible to say. Does either one allow you time to explore the Bryggen waterfront? That's really the must-see in Bergen and if the trip out to Lysøen doesn't give you time in the historic city center, that would be the deciding factor for me. Otherwise, it's more up to your tastes. Lysøen is about the only place I haven't been in Bergen, because I usually DIY my time in town, and it's a bit more work to get out there. If you're into historic architecture and gardens, I do think that it's a bit more extravagant than Troldhaugen, but if you're interested in the music, I think Troldhaugen wins out for its museum and concert hall (especially if there's a concert during your visit). The Fløyen funicular is a very popular stop, and there are some very nice views overlooking the city at the top. Most people seem to pair it with a visit to the Bryggen waterfront area as the top must-sees in Bergen.
ellbon Posted November 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2017 I have been this summer in rain so forget the view. Twice I have been up in sunnand walked down. A third time was on a silly tour group and no time to walk down. Edward Grieg,s house is lovely. I climbed down to his grave. But I did thst tour in my own by using computer.
