Rental Car Questions - Port Canaveral

We are looking to rent a car from the Orlando airport the morning of the cruise just the one way to port canaveral and then pick up again when we get back and drop off at the airport. Has anyone does this? It looks like most of the car rentals are less than a mile from where we would get the ship. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Only some are within a mile! But all are close! Do you have specific questions?

Generally renting a car on the morning of your cruise or thereafter is popular but it depends - you are adding more waiting time, etc. Shuttle services/Uber can be more convenient,

If you need to get to the port quick or back to the airport early after the cruise then a rental car may not be your best option.

Ok so here is our travel arrangements and plan. We fly in Thursday morning before the cruise. We are taking the magical express from the airport to our disney resort. We are then going to Epcot Friday. We then were planning on taking the magical express back to the airport Saturday morning to get some sort of transportation to the port. Our flight is not until 8:30 p.m. the day we come back from the cruise so I really dont want to have to catch a shuttle back to the airport the day of our flight at 10:30 am for a 8:30 pm flight. I am open to any and all suggestions on how we make the best use of our time and money.

Thanks

1. Rent a car in PC/Cocoa Beach, visit Kennedy Space Center or take an air boat ride/tour. Drop the car at MCO.

2. Take a ship's excursion that drops you at MCO and then rent a day room at the airport Hyatt or one of the nearby hotels - swim, nap, eat, etc. and then catch your flight home.

We are flying in on Friday taking magical express to Disney then on Sunday morning picking up the rental car from Alamo at the Dolphin which is on Disney property and returning it to Port Canaveral. We have a late flight home we will pick up the car in Port Canaveral and then go to Disney Springs and or Universal City Walk and return the car to MCO.

That sounds like a good idea. I think we are going to rent a room at the Hyatt at the airport and just relax poolside (weather permitting) before our flight.
