Additional 'gratuities' for drink/voom packages

I know this has been discussed probably way to many times to count, but I always find it interesting they charge gratuities (not taxes) when purchasing a beverage packages. I understand the bar employees deserve tips, but I had to laugh today. The gratuities for the classic soda/voom package is $19 a day with 8.05% gratuities. How the heck did they come up with those numbers? I know when I tip, that type of tip would be for less than stellar service. Don't get me wrong, I'm not encouraging them to raise costs, but 8.05%? LOL

We ordered the Evian water package that is a case of water left in the cabin and the 18% was added at check out. Yes I know the tap water is just as good, but it is one of those happy wife happy life things.

They are adding 18% gratuity to that portion of the $19 per day that they deem is for the soda, as opposed to VOOM.

As of today (17-Aug-2018). Royal does not charge gratuity on VOOM.

Which actually surprises me that they just didn’t tack on the gratuity to the entire amount.
