Perfect Score for Star Legend

A perfect score is hard to achieve...well done Legend. Not to take away from this, but I have to wonder whether the Inspection had anything to do with the Legend having to abandon embarkation from San Juan for the week previous to the inspection. There are several scathing reviews ( rightly so) and it was explained that the reason for not sailing from San Juan was "paperwork". I wonder if it was extra "preparation" time for the health inspection?

Always puzzles me why some people just have to look for something underhanded or negative in some way to explain something they have no clue about.

Not looking for anything "underhanded". But I get sceptical when a cruise that is supposed to leave from San Juan leaves passengers stranded and the reason provided is "paperwork". Windstar set the schedule and planned the San Juan base for the winter sailings months in advance so it is inconceivable to me that an administrative paper mistake would cause a cruise to be diverted for embarkation. Two and two just started to add up for me when I read the inspection post...happy to be wrong on this.

BTW. It also puzzles me why some people think others intentions are negative when that is not the case.

If your first paragraph quoted above isn't "negative," I don't know what is. Pure, uninformed speculation that had no need to be written and serves only to make Windstar look bad.

I cannot imagine why the CDC would ever tip-off a cruise line about an unannounced inspection. Why would the CDC risk their reputation.

If the CDC regularly handed a cruise line a "secret/backdoor" way to get a 100% score, the entire inspection process would become suspect. If ships started getting perfect scores all the time, no one would ever believe the inspection results could be trusted.

We were on the Star Pride this August. The ship was spotless. Places like the Yacht Club were so "cookie crumb free", at first I thought maybe no one ever went there. Regular Windstar passengers can help explain why the question of cookie crumbs is a valid reference.

Regarding 100% for the Star Legend...Way to go Windstar!

It's a no-brainer to know that a ship will get a CDC inspection once it hits its first American port after an extended absence of sailing out of a port governed by the CDC. So there would never be a need for a tip off. Just ask Silversea how that worked out for them a few years ago when the Shadow miserably failed a CDC inspection in Alaska. It was a PR disaster for them.
