Differences between Splendor and Voyager in suites

We were comparison shopping on that Caribbean cruise for our 25th anniversary, and it looks like Splendor would be the ship for the early December timeframe.

I noticed that there isn't a welcome champagne any more. There's no King bed till you go to Superior Suite (F). No binoculars, Illy's, or blanket. No personalized mini-bar, nor 24 hour room service? There's quite a few things you get in the various categories on Voyager that I don't see on Splendor. Is that just another poor website marketing text (ie a failed omission), or did they really downscale service and amenities on the Splendor?

Splendor is suppose to be a sister ship to the Explorer which I was on last year. We were in a G1 suite, not one of the top ones and had welcome champagne, 24 hour room service, personalized minibar, king size bed, large closet and everything we needed.

Wow - you took a lot of time posting all of that information. According to reports from Corporate, with the exception of the Penthouse suites on Explorer, all of the suites on Splendor will be the same. The PH suites are being arranged a bit on Splendor - partly to increase the size of the closet which is very small.

For us, the "H" and "G" suites are just too small but the F1/F2 and Concierge suites are lovely with lots of storage space, 2 sinks in the bathroom as well as a separate shower and bath (we have stayed in both F1 and Concierge). While the "G"/"H" suites are a small version of other suites, we found the bathroom to be quite small (note: we have toured all of the suite levels which is how I know about them).

I cannot imagine that Regent has discontinued room service for lower categories - it just does not make sense and it is likely a omission. The same goes for champagne upon embarkation. Apparently Regent is redoing their website again and this could be the result. On the other hand, prior to Explorer debuting, they only had mock-up photos of the ship and the suites and some descriptions were not correct. I would take a look at Explorer to see if they have better descriptions.

For people new to Regent, being in a Concierge suite does have advantages (the pre-cruise hotel and multiple log-ins for example). Another reason to book Concierge is that you can book excursions and dining reservations earlier.

Interesting, the web site lists a queen sized bed for the G and H suites on Explorer. I had wondered if that was really true, sounds like you found the bed size to be larger than queen size. Good information, many thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info TravelCat. For our first cruise, we did decide to go with Concierge. I wanted it for the Illys and the binoculars, haha. Just kidding. We thought since we’re new that having earlier access to dining and excursion reservations might be helpful.
