Just off the Gem

Great food, great drinks, great entertainment, great staff. A filled ship (LOTS of kids) - they handled the crowd very well.

But, our room was not great. 8066 sideways obstructed outside. The trip was rocky and the room CREAKED every second. All Night. All day. Never have experienced anything like it. The walls sounded like they were caving in. Also, the closet is in a weird place behind the bathroom - so only one person could be in that area at once. Very hard to get dressed. As small as an inside cabin. And the bed is against a hall wall so you hear every step outside. You can see through the life boat, at least, when the life boat window isn't wet. Is wet alot. Would never book this cabin again. But would definitely sail the Gem again!

Last note - we had purchased $500 in OBC more than year prior and when we got on board, it didn't post. We went to the desk every day - and got incorrect info every day. Finally, on the last day, I asked for a supervisor. Many more hours passed only to be told that she "might have submitted the query too late" and that she needed more time. After the entire week! Only b/c we demanded to meet up with her supervisor at 8pm did it finally post. On the LAST NIGHT. Be careful. They also double charged us for pre paid gratuities. I only realized that today. Disputing the charge now.

Thanks for taking the time for your review. Will be sailing her on May 12th. How was the food in the MDR? That's where we plan to eat in the evening. Anything special or really good we should try? Heard the Gem was a great ship with a wonderful staff.....can hardly wait. Thanks again, much appreciated and sounds like you enjoyed yourself.
