MawganTr Posted June 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2018 We shall be heading off on QM2 to NYC from Southampton in a few weeks. We are actually flying straight back as the voyage is our holiday. On arrival, do they only have the option of being transferred straight to the airport or (as we did in Athens last year) offer a day trip into the city during the day? Alternatively, do they allow evening flights to stay onboard longer? (Which was an option also in Athens last year on Q.V.) Bell Boy Posted June 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2018 No option on QM2 to stay onboard , however, there is the option of an afternoon at your leisure in NYC. Being dropped off at a department store for a few hours before being taken to the airport late afternoon early evening .
MarkBearSF Posted June 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2018 You are correct in the only Cunard offerings are likely to be an airport transfer and an option for a stop in midtown Manhattan. (Very convenient for the bus, handy if you want to stop at Macys or go to the Empire State Building or use the good subway connections nearby to go elsewhere). I don't know your situation, but a nice, but pricier alternative would be to hire a guide for a short tour around Brooklyn with a nice lunch and then transport to JFK. Less potential for traffic hassle, as you're not crossing into Manhattan and back. As you may know, there's a handy ferry to Manhattan, but you'd still have to deal with your luggage. Also, there's really nothing at all around either the Red Hook terminal nor JFK (and the immediate neighborhood, especially around JFK is kinda sketchy) (To be honest, we usually consign ourselves into camping out at an airport lounge for too many hours)
