Volendam vista suite balconies covered?

Are the vista suite balconies on the Volendam covered or partially covered? I'm considering a Panama Canal cruise and hope there is some shade at times on the balcony. Thanks for any info.

The sides of the ship are a straight vertical line, so the roof of one balcony is the deck of the one above, if that's what you're asking. Of course, amount of sun will depend on the sun's angle compared to the direction of the ship, too.

I have gotten terribly hot and a little burned on just such a balcony.

Thanks RuthC as that is exactly what I was asking. The balcony is not all open at the top and it does have something above it. I appreciate your answer.
