golightly01 Posted June 24, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Newbie here, to both cruising and Alaska. Heading up on Star Princess, Vancouver to Whittier, on 8/4 (ports: Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway). If this thread exists and I've missed it, please let me know. What are your favorite or recommended port spots for eating or excursions for playing? Recognizing that this is subjective, I'm eager to hear all ideas! Thank you! :D

mapleleaves Posted June 25, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2018 There are many options available at each port. What to do depends on your interests, budget and physical abilities. A good starting point for your research is past yrs trip reports (posted above). You'll read first hand experiences and can determine whether or not it's of interest to you and your group. Borrow an Alaska travel book from your library; there are a few books specific to Alaska cruises which provide info on ports, excursions, DIY, sights and activities. Also, each town/port has a web site to where they support local tourism and vendors. Many of the these sites also have a visitor guide that you can download. http://www.experienceketchikan.com/ http://www.experienceketchikan.com/support-files/ketchikan-trip-planner-2018.pdf http://skagway.com/ Have fun with your research. golightly01 Posted June 25, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Thanks, Bottom-dragger and Mapleleaves! I'll check these out. It's always a matter of opinion (and budget, abilities, etc.) but exciting and helpful to hear from folks who've been there and done that. Your resources will help, for sure!
