SchoolNurseMom Posted August 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2011 First a little background...I work for a school system that has a fall break in September. My parents want to go with my dh and I on a 4 night cruise. My dad is 76 fairly good health, type 2 diabetes, but gets around great! My mom is 87 and has congestive heart failure and a bad knee. She is doing good now, no oxygen or anything, but usually in wheelchair or walking with a cane due to her knee and gets winded easily. We are looking at Carnival Sensation to Nassau and Freeport or RCI Monarch to Nassau and CocoCay. Can you give me pros and cons to each cruise? We went on the Monarch last year so I've been to Nassau either way. How about Freeport vs a beach day on Cococay? I guess we would need a "beach" wheelchair and one of us to help her get her bbq lunch on the island, but is there much to do for her at Freeport? All suggestions and comments are welcome! Thanks! cb at sea Posted August 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2011 I'd pick Coco Cay over Freeport.....but I LOVE beaches! You don't have to stay on the island all day, and it's not that large. Either line will be fine...they are more alike than different. However, Carnival's cabins will have more space than Monarch's!
Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted August 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2011 Any Holland ship
rentlady Posted September 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2011 My vote is also holland america (Hal). They will be very comfortable on this line and will enjoy their cruise. The rc and carnival lines like to cater to the "party hard" crowd, especially on 3 or 4 day cruises. :)
Monopoly2 Posted September 12, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2011 I've been to Coca Cay and also Freeport. As a choice for me I like Cocca Cay because of the beach, activities and the nice lunch provided by RC :D Carnival CC have nice space in their staterooms as to RC/Monarch a little tight for space. However, the accessible cabins I understand have more space Have yet to cruise on Holland America..I'm hoping to cruise in the near future...It's on the wish list :)
