KikiKruiser Posted September 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2013 I know the weather patterns have been crazy in recent years, but typically what can we expect weather-wise when cruising the Danube in mid-October?? Thanks for the feedback!
jacksonnh Posted September 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2013 Temps probably in the 45-65 range depending where you are. Seems to be a big change in rain patterns.
newfirsttimer Posted September 14, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2013 Dress in layers, take at least one warm fleece and some rainproof outerwear/jacket. Both cruises I was on on the Danube/Canal in mid September, I had to buy a fleece jacket as it got very cool in the late evening/early morning. CasaM Posted October 3, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2013 You can see the weather for some upcoming cruises on cruiseoutlook.com. Just pick the cruise line and date/ship, and see the weather for each port.
bambione Posted October 5, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2013 We went on a river cruise from Prague to Budapest a few years ago in October. The first few days in Prague it was really chilly and rainy. It did clear up a little for the rest of the cruise. I had brought along a jacket that was semi water proof but not too heavy and it was perfect. I have such fond memories of that cruise, have a great time! marysb Posted October 6, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 6, 2013 We just got back this week. It was quite cool some nights and mornings (9 Celsius one day) . On deck, some people had gloves and hats. Layers are the best as it will warm up during the day.... and be prepared for rain.
urbancruiser Posted October 10, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 10, 2013 I suggest taking gloves, a warm scarf and a coat with a hood or a hat. We just returned from a week on the Danube from Nuremberg to Budapest and the mornings were very cold and at times, windy - no rain but quite chilly. The afternoons were more pleasant. The local guides all said that it was too early to be that cold. Check the 10 day weather forecast before you leave and pack accordingly.
