IDB37 Posted July 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2018 Extract from Cunard (UK) web site: "We are in the process of changing our satellite internet service across the fleet so during this time, you are able to purchase satellite 'Internet Credit' before you sail. Once on board, your internet credit can be used to purchase a satellite internet package - your ship will confirm which type of internet package is available. You can also buy internet packages at any time during your voyage. Our satellite internet packages are compatible with all devices and are also available on our computer stations located in the Internet Centre." We are on the QM2 transatlantic sailing this coming Friday. Is the above information new ? I thought the Internet had been update a couple of years ago upon the QM2 refit, albeit the service still seemed patchy at very best. Can anyone who has sailed recently shed any light on this ? Many thanks.
bluemarble Posted July 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2018 Sorry to disappoint, but I believe that verbiage stating "We are in the process of changing our satellite internet service across the fleet ..." has been there for quite some time. I think it has been there at least a year, maybe longer. It may have been prompted by Carnival Corporation's ongoing efforts to upgrade to faster internet service across their entire fleet (which they are calling MedallionNet). But so far nothing has been announced, much less implemented, concerning upgrades to that faster internet service on Cunard. Nothing had changed with regard to what was offered for internet service, packages, and pricing on our recent June voyages on QM2.
BlueRiband Posted July 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2018 FWIW, earlier this year a member described the internet situation in detail: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=55640667&postcount=
