stacied68 Posted December 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2017 I just realized that our cruise leaves New Orleans during Jazz Fest. We are planning to spend two days in town before we sail. We are not interested in attending Jazz Fest. Will the activities of Jazz Fest affect us being able to walk around the French Quarter? Last time we loved spending the afternoon sitting on the curb listening to the street musicians. TIA Stacie
jgmpuma Posted December 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Jazz Fest is at the Fair Grounds, about three miles from downtown/FQ. You won't even know it is going on until late afternoon/early evening when the crowds return to eat, drink, etc.
princeton12321 Posted December 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2017 It will make the hotels in the FQ dramatically more expensive though.
cruisingholiday Posted February 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Is it safe to walk to the fair grounds from the cruise port? Do they have buses?
jgmpuma Posted February 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2018 It is way too far to walk. The cheapest way to get there ($1.25) is the Canal Street/Carrollton Avenue street car. The last stop is at Esplanade Avenue, about six blocks from the entrance to Jazzfest.
nolatravelgirl Posted April 3, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2018 While not the cheapest option is a good option if you want to get there quickly is the Jazz Fest Express Bus. https://www.graylineneworleans.com/all/seasonal/jazz-fest-express
