I have never been to Belize. Is San Pedro town and Ambergris Caye close to each other? Would I take a water taxi to get there?

You will have to watch the weather when you get there if it's really windy it'll be really wavy and the taxi ride will be very uncomfortable

YES you are right. I didn't think of that until you mentioned it. We may wind up going another direction, or doing something else.
