Difference in Port Fees

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

My husbaand and I, along with both sets of parents, are booked on Majesty in July. We called last night to get a price adjustment, and the port fees are different for my parents. I booked my room and my in-laws' room while on board last June. I booked my parents' room as a Black Friday deal. Their cost is approximtely $24 more per person when compared to the other two rooms. The agent I was speaking to said that the port will change their fees depending on the day you book, and they were unable to adjust them. She said that if we went to GS when we boarded, they could possibly refund the difference as OBC.

Has anybody else ever heard of this? I found the idea of it to be pretty preposterous.

Thanks.

Yes, that is absolutely true. Port fees vary greatly and depend solely on the day you booked the cruise. Also, if your bookings are in a Group, the port fees are based on when that Group was established, not on the day you booked it. If the cruise line has estimated too high (and that's all it is - an estimate), then you'll get a small refund on your onboard account.
