Cozumel or Costa Maya?

I will be sailing on the Liberty on 12/18. Will the boat be docking at Cozumel or Costa Maya? I have received no info from Carnival. I would like to plan some excursions but need to know where I will be! If anyone knows and can recommend appropriate tourist spots for me and my 13 year old, I would be most appreciative. Also, is it safe for two females to take taxis, etc. by themselves or should I stick to the ship's tours?

Carnival made the announcements, on their website on November 11th. You will be going to Costa Maya

I like Costa Maya... depends on what you and your daughter want to do. Yes, it is safe to take a taxi... the taxi stand is in the main shopping area, by the pool... Check out the Costa Maya boards and you can find alot of good info.

I will be on that same cruise. I just spoke with Carnival about the change. I've heard rumors that we may be going back to Cozumel but after speaking to Carnival that will not be the case. The pier that Carnival uses in Cozumel is being rebuilt and will not be finished till after the first of the year. Also Cozumel has a 6:00 cerfew imposed at this time. So you are safe with Costa Maya. As far as excursions you may want to try http://www.costamayaexcursions.com or go to the Carnival Roll Call for the Liberty. Plenty of suggestions there. Roll call? I am afraid that I am not familiar with this area of the message board. Is this a group of individuals all traveling together? Thank you for the info. I am thrilled to be going to Costa Maya as Cozumel is far from my favorite port and I have never been to Costa Maya.

Tell the taxi stand to take you to Pez Quadro. Nice little beach on the edge of town with little to no crowd. Nice drinks and you can go all inclusive for yourself for $25.00 if you want.
