No clue about Belize City but what you want are called fry jacks. Fry Jacks are very similar to beignets.

Head to Le Petit Café, inside the Radisson. It's on Marine parade, which is the street that goes past the lighthouse. Make a right out of the tender pier complex and it's a short walk.

A short taxi ride will get you to Wild Donuts on Barrack Road. A bit of a walk from the pier area, but not bad.

I think Nerie's offers fry jacks but these are usually breakfast type foods, often stuffed with meats, seafood, or veggies. Much like empandas or beleadas. But the sweet one do look like beignets.
