Gatun Lake Excursions

I will be on the HAL Rotterdam 01/25/05 for a partial canal cruise. If I take an excursion while the ship is in Gatun Lake for the day, will I miss a lot of the canal experience by mot coming back out the Gaton Locks.

I would appreciate any excursion suggestions that you might have in case I do an excursion.

We are the week after you on the Rottedam 2/04/05 and just booked the train tour. Lots of people posted on the HAL board that this is a good one!

We sailed on Princess and they have what they call Ocean to Ocean tour where you get on a 200 passenger ship and go through the two remaining locks on the Pacific side and then transported back by bus and then tendered to the ship which is docked at Colon. I highly recommend that tour, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, a bit pricey but worth it. We also heard that the train ride was just as great.
