Galveston Super 8?

Anybody familiar with the Super 8 in Galveston? What's the area like? How far is it from the Port?

Have you tried the web site: galveston.com ? You can find out there how far they are and the reviews also..We are staying at Holiday Inn on the beach for our September cruise. Happy sailing:rolleyes:

On the one cruise out of Galveston where I actually stayed on overnight afterwards and checked out the island; I thought there were a lot of really scruffy looking hotels along the beach, and I'm guessing the Super 8 is one of them. They have a big Beach Week business there and so I'm sure those type of hotels get really whacked on during Spring Break.

I would recommend the Galvez or Tremont. Both old historic hotels and I got the Galvez for pretty cheap on the Wyndham site.

The Super 8's are not the best choice. Basically just cheap motels with nothing much going for them.

Has anybody used the Galveston Super 8? On the Super 8 website, it's listed as one of the best in the chain.

Hi guys:

I think I answered on another post, but I like to talk. We stayed at the Super in 12/2002. At that time it was fairly new. The rooms were clean and neat. All we needed was a roof over our head. I have no gripes about the hotel, but we were only there 1 night. Most of the main resturants are closeby on Seawall Blvd. and Wal-Mart is a mile to the west. From the upper floors you can see the ship terminal about a mile to the north east.

We like to try new places so everytime we go we try a new hotel. Well, we did until this last trip. The Holiday Inn on the Beach has free cruise parking and a complimentary shuttle service. Now we are spoiled.:D
