Wondering About Age On A Celebrity Cruise. 27 Y/o

mY FIANCE AND i ARE 27 Y/O wE ARE THINKING OF TAKING A 14 DAY CRUISE FOR OUR HONETMOON. 11-20-05 cELEBRITY ON SUMMIT.

I AM WONDERING IF THIS WILL BE GOOD FOR A YOUNG COUPLE??:confused:

old... 65 I think is the average if you want younger cruisers try a princess cruise through the canal

Despite the fact that many of the other passengers will be older, I think you would still have a wonderful time on board the Summit.

You will get all age ranges, on both all the cruise lines, although Celebrity and I think Holland America have an older average age. That doesn't mean there won't be plenty of young people, or even families with children. I'd look to see what cruise line has activities or other amenities that you and your fiance might be looking for on your trip to help you choose. (And both Celebrity & Princess are tops in my opinion.)

The basic rule of thumb is the longer the cruise (and especially since school is not out), the older the average age of the passengers will be.

That being said, the Panama Canal is a great cruise. We have only made a partial transit, but are looking forward to a full transit in the future. Celebrity will offer wonderful food and service.

If you are looking for a younger crowd and more party type atmosphere, then another line like Carnival or RCCL might meet your needs better. I will tell you that the average age on the Canal cruise with Princess was still 65+ (we are mid-50s and late-40s). We had a tremendous time and enjoyed our fellow passengers (except for the occasional jerk you encounter - regardless of age).

returned from this cruise in May. Average age is... well... older than you.... 65 is an average. If you get along well with people who are older than you than you will have no problem.

I would say take the late seating for dinner -- a lot of younger people are at that seating. There seemed to be a lot more walkers and scooters at the earlier seating. If you are looking for a partying crowd then forget it! The deck parties were a lot of people standing around watching the activities staff dance.

But if you want relaxation then go for it -- it is quiet, calm and serene. You will find yourself in a whole new level of relaxation.

Funny story is my kids keep telling each other to slow down when asending the stairs because they might break somebody's hip:eek:. And after a breakfast of listening in to the healing time of leg wounds my DH was then subjected to a conversation decidng if Cialis or ***** works better... The exercise rooms are deserted except for the dance staff at most times.

But at least i never had to worry about being beside a bunch of 20 year old hard-bodies on this cruise:D.

Suz...I was starting to get depressed when reading your statement here, (DH and I are in our early 40's) but that last sentence perked me right up again!! Thanks for the smile!!!

We are taking a celebrity cruise for our honeymoon this november (a 10 day ultimate carribean)--we are ages 23 and 30. We aren't really concerned about it beling "too old"--but then again we are people would would take a board game and a movie with friends anytime rather than going out and drinking.....I think we'll be fine...we shall see!

Someone described Celebrity cruises as having two types of people --- the newlywed and the nearly dead. LOL

We have been on 2 celebrity cruises, and enjoyed them both. As a matter of fact, they are probably our favourites, and we are not yet 50 and just turned 45.

A longer cruise (more than 7 days) also tends to have an older crowd.

Food tends toward excellent on Celebrity, and it is much less of a party ship than on other lines (in particular carnival).

I would say go for it, if you can still get a cabin at a reasonable rate this close to sailing.

My DH and I did a 12-night Celebrity cruise for our honeymoon, and we were 24 at the time. There was one other honeymooning couple that we came across on the whole ship, and another couple that was celebrating their 5 year anniversary. Everyone else seemed to be much older. We really didn't mind though, because we were there to spend time with each other. Plus it was nice not having all of the partying going on (we aren't the partying types).

The younger crowd would definately be on Carnival. I have found Celebrity to be a good mix of ages but more along the lines of 50ish being an average. People probably around your parents age.

Our last cruise was a canada/ new england trip on RCI. We were the youngest ones on the ship we are 28. However we had a fabulous time it's not how young you are it's how you feel and act. These people had a lot more energy than a lot of people we know our aage. They also took care of us it was like we had a hundred new pairs of grandparents. they are a wealth of knowledge and advice because they've been everywhere. Don't let the age bracket of your fellow cruisers deter you it's an asset.
