I just got back from Germany and I'm still trying to get two more nights on our trip to Alaska next month. The hotels in Germany are cheaper than Anchorage during tourist season. I have managed to get two nights so far at Priceline at a reasonable rate. ($105). If I don't get a winning bid soon for the other two nights I'll probably book through Hotwire. ($153) Watch what you get. There are some $99 rooms that are pretty nasty. Check on "travel advisor". Tim

We stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver. It was a beautiful hotel and we walked to the pier the next morning. For Anchorage we stayed at the Comfort Inn - about a 10 min walk into town. It was ok - there was a stream in back and they had fishing poles you could use. Even saw a couple of people catch a salmon.
