Galveston--what to do?

Thinking for taking a cruise out of Galveston. We actually plan on flying into San Antonio and then getting a rental car and driving to Galveston. We plan on staying one night in Galveston. What is there to do? Do we need more than one night in Galveston? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

IF you like aquariums, tropical plants and zoos, check out Moody Gardens. We are planning on going there the day before our April 2 cruise.

Also shopping in the downtown Strand area is lots of fun. (According to my wife)

You can go to the beach. take the trolley around town and the beach, walk the strand area (lots of shops), and about 20 minutes away is Kemah Boardwalk (much like Bayside in Miami). We always go to Kemah the night before our cruises out of Galveston to eat.
