What would a 12 yr old girl enjoy doing in SJ?

We will have a 12 yr old girl in our group (otherwise all adults). We will be in SJ for only a few hours....2 to 8 pm I think. I would be fine staying on the ship but didn't know if there was anything we should take her to see and do. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

We took our then 12-years old DD with us on our cruise this past Thanksgiving and she absolutely hated PR. I think she would have enjoyed a bit more if we had taken a carriage ride and did some shopping. We walked around a bit and didn't take advantage of any shopping waiting for better deals in other ports. She said PR was really boring for so we ended up back on the ship about 45 minutes later.

We enjoyed touring the fort closest to the ship. Very easy walk. Also, the Butterfly People is a nice shop to visit. A 12 yr. old girl would definetly get a kick out of it. I don't know if they have a web site, but I've purchased the same type of product in the US from www.beautifly.net You could go there to get an idea of what the shop in San Juan is like. Very pretty and interesting. She'll love it!

I loved the rain forest and will be taking my 10 yo DD there next March. I am sure most kids would love it.

 • 4 weeks later...
before you go you should read up and teach her about the history of San Juan and then take her to the forts and things to show her in person the history and events that happened there. Teaching our kids about history and other cultures are memories they will have forever.
