Port in FLL to Miami airport

We are flying into Fort Lauderdale for our cruise on Caribbean Princess and then back out of Miami airport. Can anyone tell me how long of a drive this will be and what would be the least expensive way to get there?

it's about a 45 minute ride depending on traffic. The least expensive way to get there is rent a car. taxis are about $60-$70. Many have used limos or shuttle services.

We just returned yesterday, doing the same thing. We arrived a day early so we rented a car - came in handy and with all of the extra insurance, mid-size was $47 US. On the way back we bought the transfer from the ship to Miami at $15 per person. It was good but we were in a hurry (12:00 flight out - international flight) The driver was aware of this but had still put our luggage at the back (first on,last off). Then when we got there he shut the door, with us inside, while he unloaded all of the luggage. The people were not very happy - we think the reason was because if all of the luggage was off he would be able to receive all of his tips (oh and he reminded us that he should be tipped). We have done transfers before and have had no such problems so I am chalking this one up to the driver not the system itself. We were off the bus and had our luggage by 11:00. So if you are not in a hurry you might want to consider transfers.
