eyern Posted July 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2004 Since the Dawn Princess is the only ship in port on Oct 11, I assume that will make the tour boats (Soto's, Marvin's, Nativeway) uncrowded and personalized for a stingray city trip (and tendering should be a breeze too)! Should we wait and purchase our tour at the dock in case they are fighting over business that day or go ahead and reserve in advance? Alan. Krazy Kruizers Posted July 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2004 :) Wait till you get to the dock to book a tour out to Stingray City. Since you are the only ship in that day you might be lucky and have a guide who will take to the turtle farm and HEll for just a couple of more dollars. :)
HP_Lovecraft Posted July 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2004 I was thinking about waiting to book a trip until I got there.... But just noticed, there are THREE ships in port that day. Both Disney (2500pax) and Carnival (2600pax) arrive at 7am. My ship, Century, arrives at 8am. It may be a LONG time before my feet touch the shore. :( Nick
HOLLYW Posted July 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2004 How do you know how many ships are in port on the day you are there?
annagregg Posted July 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 9, 2004 http://www.caymanport.com This is the website for the Cayman Islands Port Authority. You can search cruise ship schedules in a certain month, and see arrival and departure times (estimates) for your ship.
lanabanana Posted July 11, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2004 What if I go to that website and don't see my ship listed? I'm on the EOS the week of 9/26/04. We're due in GC on Fri. I see the Mariner listed that day, but not the Explorer. Any ideas?
annagregg Posted July 11, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 11, 2004 If your cruise leaves on Sunday 26 September 2004 then you get to Grand Cayman on Friday 1 October. I have just checked the October scedule and the EOS is there 9.30am till 5.00pm. The Mariner of the Seas is in Grand Cayman on Thursday 30 September 2004. tidelover Posted July 12, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 12, 2004 Ouch. I just looked up the Century for December 21st. 7 ship in port that day. Guess I need to make reservations soon. Will be a busy day. How many tenders do they have. Will there be more since so many ships in port? will all 7 ships be lined up together? Thanks
tidelover Posted July 12, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 12, 2004 O.K. my bad 5 ships, and one gets there when we are leaving. Still 4 ships in one day.
DM Posted July 12, 2004 #11 Share Posted July 12, 2004 Thanks for the site. I have a question though, my ship shows on the web site from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. My cruise stop is scheduled from 7:00 AM to 3:00PM. Anyone know why there would be a difference in time?
HP_Lovecraft Posted July 12, 2004 #12 Share Posted July 12, 2004 The ships usually schedule themselves extra time in each port in case of emergencies, or late passengers (who did ship-sponsored excursions). -nick
MrsPete Posted July 13, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 13, 2004 Very cool website, annagregg! Do you have any similar sites for the other Western Caribbean islands?
sea_u_onboard Posted August 6, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 6, 2004 Just out snooping and noticed that on 2/3/05 there are 7 ships scheduled to stop. Boy I would hate to be going that day.
vossjemi Posted August 6, 2004 #15 Share Posted August 6, 2004 Our ship (Brilliance) will be there 1/22/05....just us!:p Now, lets just hope that the surf isn't rough and we can tender!:o
NinaCO Posted August 6, 2004 #16 Share Posted August 6, 2004 Great website. Five ships in G.C. when we're there. :( Knowing that, will make planning easier. I'll try to avoid beaches where the cruise ship excursions usually go.
Runner Girl Posted August 7, 2004 #17 Share Posted August 7, 2004 Oh my God! There will be 7 ships in port when we are there!
Got2bsunny Posted August 7, 2004 #18 Share Posted August 7, 2004 the ship I'm on arrives after the others. I'm hoping to book a scuba expedition assuming I have my scuba certification by then. I REALLY want to learn how to Scuba Dive before the cruise, but cost might keep me away :( .

I see the Mariner listed that day, but not the Explorer. Any ideas? Don't panic...your ship will be in Grand Cayman. I checked the port site also, and it listed only our ship for the day...but it turned out, there was another huge ship in port. We were in Grand Cayman on New Year's Day, and with two ships it was still pretty crowded, but we had a ball. :)
