Baby Supplies?

Read on another board that some cruise lines provide diapers and baby food (I presume with prior notice to boarding). Is this true? If so, does anyone know on which lines this would be the case. We're looking at the Med next summer with the extended family (including a fifteen month old). It certainly would be nice not to have to pack it all.

I wasn't aware of this. I would call up the cruisline directly and ask. I bet they will be really expensive though.

I believe it is RCCL that you can pre-order diapers...expensive service. You might be better to fly in a day early and buy on the economy. As for baby food...Your 15 month old should be on table food, and I believe they will puree if you ask...EM

Princess will provide jarred baby food (stage 1 and 2 only). They will not guarantee brands, but we had Gerber back in July. You have to pre-request it and then fill out a form (we did this via email) and then you have to speak to the maitre-d in the dining room to get it to carry to your cabin. Choices were fruits, veggies, boxed cereal, meats, dinners, desserts, and juices. Since baby was 10 mo old, she was eating a lot of regular foods (and on the form it said they would puree anything we asked), but a few jars of fruit and the juices were great to take with us off the ship for when she needed a quick snack. (Or for while we were waiting for dinner - better than filling her up on bread!)

As for diapers, they listed what they had (size-wise) and prices (expensive) and that they were just for backup (emergency) and they suggested bringing our own. Which we did. (Allowed us extra room in the suitcases to go home!) We made sure we packed a suitcase that would fit inside another suitcase to have less to carry home by sticking the empty one (was filled with baby disposables) inside a bigger one and then packing it up.

P&O provide baby food (including organic), which they will happily heat for you. They also provide diapers, although in reality this is to save you having to cart them around with you all over the ship - you should bring plenty of your own.

Cunard also provide baby food, and diapers on an emergency basis.

If you are planning on cruising with either of these lines around the Med, both do so from Southampton which has an absolutely huge retail park/mall very close to the cruise terminals, so you could buy your diapers there (and in fact pretty much anything else, including a suitcase to put it in!) and save your in flight luggage allowance.
