Venice opera

Will be overnight in Venice (Westerdam) 10/16/10-10/17/10. Looking for something to do in the evening. Thought about the opera. Has anyone gone to this location?

The building is an interesting old church -- with many changes and additions over the centuries.

 

Neither the acoustics nor the talent are going to rival La Scala but it will certainly be an enjoyable evening.

 

BTW, the main opera house in Venice, La Fenice, burned down in the mid-90s. I loved this place. It was rebuilt in several years ago but I haven't had a chance to see a performance in the new facility. La Fenice means The Phoenix, so the fire and rebirth are quite appropriate.
