Bottom Bay - Question from a photo enthusiast

Hi.

When I saw pictures of Bottom Bay in a magazine a couple of years ago, I knew then I'd like to go there "someday" - not necessarily to swim but to take pictures. :D

We (DH, DS, myself) are going on a cruise next month and one of the ports of call is Barbados (from 9am until 6pm). Is it possible to take a taxi to Bottom Bay? How far is it from the port? If we hire a cab to take us there, any other must-visit spot you'd highly recommend?

Thank you.

Get yourself a taxi from outside the Port's gates (important)

and make your way to CRANE and Bottom Bay, they're both very scenic

and about 1.5 miles apart maybe.

Both scenes are best shot from on top the cliffs, looking down and over the beach.

I take it you've seen my shots on this thread?

That'll give you some idea of what to aim for..

Have the taxi wait for you at Bottom Bay

since you'll soon see how remote it is,out there

and you'll never catch another cab from that location.

Maybe you should consider doing Btm Bay first, spending a short while there

then move on to Crane for the rest of the day?

You'll get yourself a new taxi from Crane with no problem.

Thanks to Aplmac's photos, Bottom Bay and Crane are on our to do list as well.

Aplmac - What I was wondering... Did you take some of your Crane photos from the restuarant? If so, can you just wander in and take photos, or do we need to plan on having lunch there to do so?

Thanks for this info Alpmac,

I was asking questions about Bottom Bay myself last week,

but I think you were on a cruise because you were nowhere around!

I was off the island for ten days

- in Grenada and Trinidad. :)

See recent pics on the CC Photo Gallery.

Yes, you can just wander in, especially mid-morning when nothing much is happening.

Wouldn't hurt though to have a drink or two on the balcony overlooking the view...

You don't get to do that every day.

No, no you don't... well... maybe YOU can do that every day :p ....but *I* can't, unfortunately.

I'm looking forward to all 7 ports on our cruise (SJ too), but I think Barbados most of all for some reason. :)

7 ports?! WOW! How long is your cruise? (if you don't mind me asking)

I am also going on this cruise, and I'm most excited for Barbados as well!

I think Alpmac had something to do with it....

I'll bet she's doing Carnival Victory

Victory-155.jpg

which is 7 ports in seven days!

Exhausts most folks

but God how they love it -and come back for more! :D

Aplmac is correct again ;)

We picked this ship for the itinerary. Bring on the exhaustion! lol... I am ready for it. :D Just over 6 weeks to go. <happy dance>

But if we really love a location so much that we want to spend more time there, we'll probably go back for a land vacation. Hopefully we don't love all the ports that much or we'll be doing a lot of trips! LOL
