Early Arrival to Miami port

We will be driving to the port of Miami, and if all goes as planned, we will arrive at approximately 8am. (Allowing extra time for any travel related delays!) Is there anything to do near the port at that time of day until we can embark? Any good places we can stop before getting to Miami to kill an hour or two? We are driving from NC overnight.

Bayside is at the foot of the bridge that takes you to the port/Dodge Island. 8 is a wee bit early but there's a couple of mom and pop's open for a nice Cuban breakfast and you can hang out there as long as you'd like. You'll be 2 minutes from the port.

 

OR ... follow 95 into Miami and head towards the port until you get to the I-395 exit then exit east onto the MacArthur Cswy .... you'll head east right past the ship you wil soon board (unless it is late). Continue straight until Collins Ave then turn left into South Beach ... research some of the great breakfast places in South Beach or just cruise 'til you find one.

 

Munch out .... do a little people watching.

 

Me .... I don't even like to arrive at the port until after noon - avoiding the "me first" crowd.
