mgscruiser Posted January 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2010 We're leaving from the midwest (either ORD - Chicago - or MKE - Milwaukee) for our flight to Barcelona. I'd love to fly biz class if possible for the long flight but not sure if it's too $$$. Anyway - how to find the best prices? Any recommendations on airlines or how early to fly to Barcelona? TIA. fbgd Posted January 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2010 Do you need to fly business class or would premium economy do? Some passengers try to avoid economy in which case premium economy (BA World Traveller Plus for the long segments) would be quite sufficient, but some do need a bona fide business class seat. jetwet1 Posted January 23, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2010 Your looking around the $3500 mark for a business class flight, only you can decided if that is to much $$$ From ORD you can take UA and CO to BCN with one connection. You could also fly into MAD and take the train across to BCN.
Rare Gardyloo Posted January 23, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2010 Iberia has nonstop flights from Chicago to Madrid, with an easy connection to Barcelona. IB often has sales on business class tickets - sometimes less than $2500 for that route, so you could monitor ITA and see what develops. No guarantees, of course. Another possibility is to look for deals where you can score a bunch of frequent flyer miles and use them to upgrade coach fares - if you already have some miles in a carrier that flies to Spain, you might also be able to purchase additional miles from that airline and use them to "top up" the miles needed for upgrades.
