beach gramma Posted January 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2010 Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced champagne. Plan to pay the corkage fee, don't usually drink much wine but thought mimosa would a good drink to have onboard.
bakerintn Posted January 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I'm no champagne expert, but if you are only going to do Mimosas, almost any sparkling wine should do. I find Korbel or Cooks to be just fine for drinking straight or with O.J. The "Brut" variety will have less sugar than "Extra Dry" ... your choice there depends on your personal taste. Brut = 0.7 - 1.1% sugar Extra Dry = 1.2-2.0% sugar You certainly do not need genuine Franch Champagne.
beach gramma Posted January 24, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted January 24, 2010 Thanks for the quick reply. Maybe since I have almost 2 months before the cruise I can do some sampling and decide what I like bes t:)
Tyskie Posted January 24, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I second that, Korbel or Cooks! Cooks is a few dollars cheaper, about $6 or so...............Korbel closer to $10-12. Can't go wrong with either. I prefer a Mimosa without the OJ :D
johnql Posted January 24, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I'd stick with a sparkling wine, too, instead of actual champagne - Korbel or Freixenet.
Hockey19 Posted January 24, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2010 We have been drinking Freixenet for way to many years. Well priced and very very delicious.

2Cruise4Ever Posted January 24, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I'd stick with a sparkling wine, too, instead of actual champagne - Korbel or Freixenet. I second the Freixenet. We buy that when we want a fairly decent sparkling wine for an ordinary occasion. But, when we really want to celebrate something we go with Moet White Star all the way!
