melt Posted January 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2005 We plan to take the train excursion in Skagway. I would like to go ahead and get my tickets directly from their website. However, I would like to know if anyone knows how far it is from the dock to the train depot. Because if I book this way we won't have transfers. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. buzzandjulie Posted January 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2005 I'm curious about this also. Do you happen to know the differance in fare. I think someone told me it was $89 from train line and RCL is $
Yukon Posted January 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2005 You pay about $10-15 extra buying from the ships, depending on which ship. The railroad depot is 2-5 blocks from the ships, depending again on which ship.
Boo's Mom Posted January 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2005 We did this last summer....on the Celebrity Summit. We walked off the ship and the train was right there. I believe this depends on where your ship docks. It will either be no walk...or a short walk. They gave us "free" bottled water on the train. The bottle is in the shape of a train. Very cute. They were selling these bottles in shops, when we exited the train. A nice souvenir. :D

Budget Queen Posted January 18, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2005 SHIP booked train excursions board at the ship dock, But independent booked tours board at the downtown depot. BUT hopefully you will be downtown anyway seeing Skagway. It can be quite a walk if you are the third ship back- 15-20 mins. But there are shuttles available for $1.50 per trip.
