Train to Rome on Saturday

We arrive in Civitavecchia on Saturday, May 15th will there be a problem getting on the train into Rome. Thanks for your help. Fiona

Unless there is a strike scheduled for that date, you will not have a problem.

No problem getting a train on Sundays and you will probably find that they are quite empty. The bad news is that much of Rome is closed on Sundays, particularly stores. Make sure you do your homework and verify that the places you want to visit are open.

Thanks for your replies. Hank we arrive on Saturday, I was concerned as I thought a lot of people would want to go to Rome on the weekend. Fiona

Fiona, I'm sure there will be local folks heading to Rome on the weekend, but probably not in the numbers you would find on a weekday. The train from Civitavecchia to Rome is a commuter train for many people, and you won't find most of them on a Saturday.

No problem and as others have said, more space on the trains since its a weekend, not a regular commuter day.

Its Sundays that are a problem with the Civ-Rome trains since there are fewer of them.

Whatever you do, do not wait until the last train to get back to the port. You'll probably get off at Stazione San Pietro . If you take a taxi back, remember to tell them Civita-vecch-ia port, learn to say it, I've heard of people being taken to the AIR port by mistake.
