cancellation on carnival

Hey folks, my wife and i booked two balcony cabins on the carnival freedom. The second cabin was for her son and finace. Well now they cant go on the cruise, so we are going to cancell the second cabin When we contacted carnival they said they would give us a credit for another cruise to use upto one year, but they would not let us use it for obc for this cruise.Is there anyway I can get them to change it,so we can use this credit on this cruise,

Be careful the people who are named on the cabin get the credit, not the people who paid for the cabin.
