What is a Fare Code?

I asked this once before and never got an answer. I was just wondering when you book online they ask if you have a "fare code". Is this some type of discount or coupon code? If so where do you get them?

Any fare that you book has a code associated with it, even if its nothing special a general price.

PSE for instance is the fare code for senior, there are ones for past guest, early saver, etc.

You dont need to know the fare code, if you check the box for the things that apply to you, like your state, are you a senior, those rates will show up. when you click on a particular rate to check it ...over on the right hand side where it shows you the booking amount, there will be the fare code for that fare you are looking at.
