Frequent Floater Posted March 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2010 I am researching for a pre cruise stay in or around FLL for March of 2011 for a group of family/friends. We will have a rental car and being right on the beach is not a concern. Just a nice safe place that is comfortable I would appreciate any/all info on the following places Palm Aire Sea Gardens Santa Barbara Royal Vista Our other option is possibly staying at Embassy suites or like. We fly in/out of FLL
eandj Posted March 26, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2010 Use VRBO.com or Homeaway.com if you need a condo or apt. Probably will depend on how long you need one, for how many people and when.
Frequent Floater Posted March 26, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted March 26, 2010 Thanks I already have someone that has availability at these places that I can rent from. Just wondering if any are better than others or should just get hotel instead. I hope to trade my Sedona Az. for the timeshare or just rent it from this guy outright. I do not know this area so want to be sure we are not trading a top notch for a lesser or paying too much for something.
eandj Posted March 27, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2010 Gotcha. Have you checked tripadvisor or just googled them for recent reviews?? Are Palm Aire and Royal Vista Wyndham properties? If so yes, you will find all kinds of info on tripadvisor.
Frequent Floater Posted March 27, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted March 27, 2010 Great idea, thanks. Not sure why I didn't think of that as I use Trip A often. Love these boards and helpers like you. Yes both are Wyndham resort properties.
royalcruz Posted March 27, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2010 Royal Vista is the closest to Fort Lauderdale. There isn't much in Pompano Beach, so none of the locations offer much. The Palm Aire location is near a casino/horserace/restaurant complex (the Isle at Pompano Race Course), if you are into that. People have been pretty happy with their Priceline wins for 3 and 4 star hotels in the downtown zone too.
Frequent Floater Posted March 27, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted March 27, 2010 Thanks royalcruz. This is the kind of info I am looking for. We do need something big enough for 7 - 10 persons in my family and another family or 2 would also like same, so hotel is not what we are looking for. We will have rental cars so no worries on stuff to do in exact area. There are several that would enjoy the casino though. The Palm Aire has a 3 bedroom until that would be great for all of us to be in one place. Just needed to know if the area is clean and safe. I found another site with rental HOMES that looks interesting but then again when you have NO clue about the area it is difficult to decide what would be good. Glad I have a year to figure it all out. We are not into being on the beach as we will most likely go on road trips 1 or 2 days then relax at the resort or rental home the rest of the time. We are coming from San Diego Ca so need that adjust time after the long coast to coast flight. Thanks again for the help. I so appreciate all ideas and suggestions. My friend recently stayed in Palm Aire with hubby & 3 kids, and said that it was very nice. The immediate neighborhood is safe. Most of the residents are older seniors. There is a Publix, Ruby Tuesday and McDonald's closeby, but not much of anything else.
Frequent Floater Posted March 28, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted March 28, 2010 Well thanks to eandj I found a wonderful site on trip advisor with lots of rental home choices in the same price range as the timeshares. I appreciate all your input on what I had asked for. It did help. Now I am going to focus on Las Olas and Lauderdale by the Sea areas.
