I would like to wish all our Aussie fellow posters a great day on our National Holiday.

 

We are having a warm one - it is going to be 36C.

It was a lovely day and best of all we have one tennis player in the semi finals of the Open - Lleyton Hewitt. He played a great match last night as did Alicia who fought her heart out yesterday and just lost in the terrible heat.

Jennie, we were in Coffs Harbour for Australia Day. It was a dry but cloudy day, between bouts of heavy rain. We had 7" in 5 days!

We were disappointed that there were few special events on 26th. Only a duck race! In Sydney the week before, we had seen adverts for lots of celebrations.

 

We did love Australia though. We will definately return one day, although at present I am struggling to get over a horrible 29 hour journey and 11 hour time change.

What a shame you were not in Sydney or our lovely Melbourne. We had so much happening here on Australia Day. We had a parade, loads of people became naturalised and people just had fun. Plus we had the Australian Open and we had beautiful weather.

 

The journey is long and tedious I admit, but we have been flying to Europe each year for the past 12 years so we know what to expect and you do get over it. The time changes are the hardest but at least you flew the correct way home. Fly westwards is much easier than flying eastwards.
