Free upgrades

I have seen many posts about upgrades. My questions are

Who's eligible?

Is this from TAs or Carnival.

Do they call you?

Any other info would be great.

I got my free upgrade to a higher stateroom by calling my TA. I noticed prices went down so I thought I would give it a shot and i got more then I was expecting. Going to keep watching maybe a Suite will be next :D

Most of the traditional "free upgrades" have disappeared and have been replaced with "Upsell Calls" where you're given the opportunity to upgrade for a (maybe bargain) price.

After Final Payment, if the fare for your Category drops, you can ask for a upgrade, if available.

If you Book a Guarantee for the minimum Cabin classification in a Category, you may well be assigned a "higher" Category Cabin.

Occasionally you might be notified at home or at the pier that you've been (free) upgraded. .

I just called our booking agent after I noticed the price for our room dropped by almost $200. We got upgraded for free. This was about 6 days before the cruise too. Always give it a shot if the price has dropped.

I guess Im just being impatient as our cruise is not til August. Just have to wait and see. So far our price has done nothing but go ip!

I got a free upgrade by calling pvp this week after noticing pack n go rates much lower than what we paid.

 

Would have been nicer to get obc instead but ES not offered when we booked.
