Entertainment on f o

Recommended Posts

During the day there are the traditional things - quizzes, bingo, deck games, dance lessons, arts and crafts etc. There are usually some excellent lectures given by diverse and interesting speakers. The port talks are also good and not, as on some lines, purely advertising for the local shopping outlets. They actually tell you in some detail about the history and geography of the ports of call! On most cruises they also have classical recitals given by some very talented musicians.

In the evening there is "showtime" on all ships with variety acts of all kinds. On the "Balmoral" there is a second theatre where an alternative evening show, usually musical, takes place. There is always a crew show towards the end of each cruise which always proves popular. Of course there is also ballroom dancing. There are small casinos on each ship but, according to the gamblers on board, are too small! It's not the cruise line for the big gamblers!

Hope this helps.

I agree with Parsman ,mostly run of the mill stuff you get on any cruise line, except the big american ships.

They do have different big names on board occasionally, that suit the age range on their ships,eg. Lulu,Jimmy Tarbuck just to name two. I remember a few years ago sitting on deck chatting to Norman Wisdom and the on board show girls ,most will tell you ,theres a rush for the front seats. ;)

on our cruise in March there were no big acts at all just a very average comedian and a very poor group. The violinist was good and very amusing however the crew show was very good. We found ourselves in the observatory bar after dinner each evening very pleasent with a good pianist. We did have a great time and would return. Hope you enjoy your cruise

Just been on our 1st cruise, we went to the Baltic. We were entertained by the Braemar Show Company, 4 singers and 4 dancers, they were fantastic.

Can you tell me if they do two shows a night as they do on Thomson,so that you can go to a show after 2nd sitting dinner

On BLACK WATCH there is a second show for those on second sitting.

Can't speak from experience as to quality - I just don't do shows whether on land or afloat:)
